Advanced Math

In this unit, students will describe, identify, compose, and decompose two- and three-dimensional shapes. They will focus on identifying the parts of a polygon which include sides, vertices and angles.  They will also identify and compare the parts and attributes of fundamental geometric figures. This will include edges, vertices, faces, and angles.    Students will begin to develop their understanding of line symmetry.

2nd Grade Reading

Picture
Spring fever has officially begun, but we are not slowing down our instruction!  Some of our skills include locating information in different reference materials, predicting outcomes, and we are revisiting author’s purpose and homophones.  Test your kids when you hear anyone in the family use a homophone.  Make it a game of who can spell the correct homophone.

3rd Grade Reading

As the school year is dwindling down, we are getting as much learning in as possible.  Some of our skills include locating information in different reference materials, using graphic aids, and revisiting cause and effect and main idea.

Science  - Pushes and Pull

Why do some objects travel farther and with a greater speed than others?

In our next unit in science, students will learn about the ways that objects move.  We will examine certain variables such as, mass, shape, and force and how they determine how far an object will travel.   We will also explore why forces cause certain objects to start moving, change position, and stop.  Finally, students will learn about simple machines such as, wheels and axles, levers, inclined planes, pullies, screws, and wedges.

We have wrapped up all our units in Social Studies for the year.  The kids have learned a lot and have made steady progress.
